I've never been a fan of the pop-up phenomena - pop-up stores seem disjointed and pop-up restaurants seem to try to hard - but with the opening of Papaya Playa a temporary 'pop-up' hotel in Tulum, Mexico - I may have finally found a piece of this fast moving community I can truly adore.
Somewhere between eco-chic and rustic-raw, there is a room for any budget - Guests can stay in beachfront palapas, in a luxe five-bedroom house, or for those on a budget, a bunk (and bath) house with rates starting as low as $25. The Ninety-nine cabanas have been refurbished by the creative team at Design Hotels and every detail - from the hammocks, to the lanyard key chains, have me smitten. Lucky for us, Papaya Playa's will be on sale this Sunday on Jetsetter - so mark your calendars because, I don't know about you, but I'm in dire need of a tan.
